Strawstopia has been recognized as a Best For The World – Environment and/or Community in 2023. We’re B Corporation certified, going above and beyond to make a positive environmental impact in the top 10%.

But what is a B CORPORATION?

Certified Beneficial Corporations (BCorps) are businesses certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

B Lab is a nonprofit organization that serves a global movement of people using business as a force for good. Its vision is that one day all companies compete not only to be the best in the world but the best for the world.

Chanelle Sladics, Strawstopia’s Founder, shares why we’re a B Corp and how we’re using our business as a force for good.

B Corp is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk.

On December 11, 2019, at the UN Climate Change Conference, COP25, in Madrid, over 500 B Corps took the stage and publicly committed to accelerate the reduction of their greenhouse gas emissions to reach a 1.5-degree trajectory leading to net zero by the year 2030—20 years ahead of the 2050 targets set in the Paris Agreement. In the weeks that followed, hundreds more have joined their ranks, with additional companies signing up daily.

This commitment to significant carbon reduction leading to a net zero future by 2030 is part of the most aggressive climate action effort by a constituency of businesses in the world and demonstrates true leadership in a time of severe environmental and economic unrest and uncertainty.

B Lab drives this systemic change by:

  1. Building a B Corp community for transparency, distinguishing “good companies” from good marketing.
  2. Advocating benefit corporation legislation to balance societal value and shareholder interests.
  3. Assessing, comparing, and enhancing social and environmental performance through the B Impact Assessment.
  4. Channeling capital to impact investments using B Analytics and GIIRS Ratings platform.
