Meet The Family of Womens’s Business Enterprise National Council

In 2023, a group of UUM students started “Strawstopia,” a brand offering reusable stainless steel straws and bottles as an alternative to plastic straws. Driven by a passion to educate the public about the detrimental effects of plastic pollution and a commitment to working with Womens’s Business Enterprise National Council dedicated to minimizing plastics, we embarked on this journey.

“After years of witnessing the impact of plastic waste as an environmental scientist, I felt a deep calling to provide a solution that promotes sustainability and protects our planet,” shares the team of Strawstopia. “Discussing this with my family, we all shared the same vision of creating products that not only offer a safe and superior alternative but also contribute positively to the environment. Combining our collective knowledge, expertise, and love for the planet, we created Strawstopia. It’s our way of addressing a problem that affects us all.”

 IT’S NOT EASY BEING GREEN

Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond just straws. We thoughtfully craft our sleeves using eco-friendly materials like fair-trade hemp, flax, and organic cotton. We prioritize eco-friendly practices, such as using web hosting and printing services powered by renewable energy. Our printing uses non-toxic dyes, and we make our business materials from FSC-certified 100% post-consumer recycled paper. Furthermore, all our packaging is compostable. We strive to be as green as possible, pushing the boundaries of sustainability. As a bonus, 1% of all proceeds directly support our non-profit partners, providing us with a sense of fulfillment and purpose.
